MELBOURNE

I went down to Melbourne a few weeks ago for 2 nights with my mum and best friend. Talk about fun - shopping, cafe hopping and exploring new places are my favourite things to do!

We stayed at the Crown Casino both nights which was so nice. I'm pretty much the biggest foodie so the whole point of my trip was to check out restaurants and cafes. The food in Melb is NEXT LEVEL (well compared to where I live it is). We got the trams everywhere around Melb, it was so cheap and you could go wherever you want as many times as you want for only $7.

My favourite cafe was The Kettle Black in South Melbourne. I loved the food, the decor, the vintage style house that is tucked under a huge high rise. I have to admit, I came here twice because I wanted to try more. I had the Coconut-set Chia seeds with fresh mango, strawbs, bluebs, coconut, maple, macadamias and rose petals (top photo on the blog). My mum had a special and Emily had their famous blueberry and ricotta hot cake. This hotcake needs a special mention, oh man.. it was so good! It was like a big fluffy round cake and it melted in your mouth.
The second day we went back I had the mushrooms.. delish!

My second favourite place to eat was Chin Chin. Be prepared to wait in line for a table. They don't take reservations so you have to line up, put your name down and they call you when it is ready. You can go off and come back or wait down stairs in their bar called Go Go Bar. We got there at 6 and waited in line for an hour before we headed downstairs to Go Go Bar. After 30 minutes we realized you could order and eat from the menu down there. It was so dark so we didn't get to take photos of the food. My highlight was their red duck curry. It was the best Asain food I have probably ever eaten!
